I had previously purchased beginner sets for both of us but longed for a set to make a bigger layout with people and vehicles. The Town Set is great. There are over 200 pieces with lots of interesting pieces to make buildings, trees and even animals. I normally dispair about the excess of packaging but in this case I would have preferred at least an internal cardboard box that is more exciting than the packing box and for a picture of the contents to not be on the outside of the box as it is sent. Needless to say my boys saw the box as it came through the post so this one won't be too much of a surprise. In terms of the set itself: - there is a great variety of basic shapes - there are enough wheels / lego people to avoid arguments when my (3.5 year old) children are playing together. - the basic nature of the blocks appears to encourage my children to be more imaginative...
